FMSI DESIGNATION

Z NUMBERS

Z designated

The Friction Materials Standards Institute (FMSI®) has updated its industry-standard part numbering system to include Z-Numbers. These numbers indicate brake pads specified by OEMs to use mechanical retention, denoted by a 'Z' designation.

Right out of the box, galvanized NRS brake pads have a technology you can see. Rust resistant, unpainted galvanized steel that incorporates an award winning attachment technology called NRS™.

Traditional painted pad

Every traditional brake pad on the market is painted, leading to flaking and corrosion. The use of adhesives to attach the friction to the pad only gives way for the friction to eventually chip, fall off and delaminate.

NRS galvanized brake pad

Every bit of steel in our brake pads is galvanized to prevent any corrosion or rusting. Our mechanical attachment technology further ensures longevity and prevents any friction from delaminating or chipping.

Forget traditional brake pads

Instead of adhesives, our brake pads utilize NRS™ technology, in-situ galvanized hooks on the backing-plate surface. These hooks provide a mechanical retention of the friction material, overcoming inadequacies of adhesive usage. This guarantees that the friction material will never delaminate, providing a longer life and safer brake operation for the entire life of the pad.
